MARC-ANTOINE OLIVIER OF FRANCE WINS THE FIRST GOLD MEDAL AT THE WORLD AQUATICS CHAMPIONSHIP.

On Saturday, 15 July 2017, the 21-year-old Marc-Antoine Olivier of France won the first gold medal by winning the men’s 5-kilometer open water race at the World Aquatics Championships. The open water swimming championship is on going at Balatonfured on Lake Balaton, southwest of Budapest in Hungary. He (Olivier) finished the competition in 54 minutes, 31.40 seconds while Mario Sanzullo of Italy came second to win silver medal. Timothy Shuttleworth of Britain won bronze. Olivier is the first French male world champion in open water swimming. He won bronze medal in the 10-kilometer at the 2016 Olympics. Svetlana Kolesnichenko of Russia won the first gold medal at women’s solo technical title in synchronized swimming, Ona Carbonell of Spain won silver medal while Anna Voloshyna of Ukraine claimed bronze.The women’s 10K race takes place Sunday, while the men’s 10K is on Tuesday, July 18, 2017.
