We (Viewers Corner News team) have written articles in the past on this topic and we are doing so again. The judicial system in Nigeria to an extent has not been protective of her citizens which is very bad. Prison in Nigeria is an eyesore, majority of the inmates in most prisons across the country (Nigeria) have stayed for years on awaiting trial without any court hearing which is bad. Based on this horrible situation, we (Viewers Corner News team) are calling on President Buhari as a matter of urgent, to look into this issue. These are human beings whose lives and rights have been caged for years which is absolutely bad. It will be fair if they are given the opportunity to be heard and if they are not found guilty of the offence that got them arrested, then they should be set free. Again, there is nowhere it is in the law to have suspects in awaiting trial detained in the prison for years without been tried in a court of law, perhaps only in Nigeria one can find such horrible treatment being given to people which is completely unacceptable. Please release those in Nigerian prisons who have stayed years on awaiting trial if there are no enough evidences to try them in a law court.
