LOCAL GOVERNMENT AUTONOMY IN NIGERIA HAS COME TO STAY AND THERE IS NOTHING ANY GOVERNOR CAN DO ABOUT IT. RESIGN NOW AS A GOVERNOR IF YOU ARE AMONG THOSE OPPOSING SUCH BEAUTIFUL SYSTEM.

Some governors in Nigeria are bitter over this issue of autonomy for local governments across Nigeria. One of those governors who we (Viewers Corner News team) know very well is governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state (Nigeria). If those governors who opposed this beautiful system (local government autonomy) have something good to offer to their people, they would not have opposed it. They are opposing it because they would not have enough money to steal from the local government anymore which is the major reason they want to have control of the local governments. If you look at some local governments in Nigeria, their allocations are reduced or not given at all by those corrupt governors who opposed the autonomy of local governments in Nigeria. Again those corrupt governors deny the local governments of their money given to them by the federal government of Nigeria, thereby making it very difficult for them to function effectively but now that it has become mandatory that local governments in Nigeria would get their money directly from the federal government, it is a great news and highly appreciated. We (Viewers Corner News team) would also use this opportunity to appeal to the local government authorities in Nigeria that the allocation which they would be receiving on monthly basis is for the development of their areas. It is not a personal money which should be used for personal purposes or spend carelessly. Please use the money to develop your various communities and create a better living condition for your people, anything short of this may require the attention of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of Nigeria to pay a visit to the local government in question.
