LIBYA’S RIVALS HAVE BEGAN POLITICAL PEACE TALKS BROKERED BY THE UNITED NATIONS IN TUNISIA.

Our (Viewers Corner News) correspondent in Tunis (Tunisia) reported that Libya’s rivals have began political peace talks in Tunis (capital of Tunisia) which was brokered by the United Nations. The aim of the peace talks was to end the political disputes which engulfed Libya since 2011 that Moammar Gadhafi was killed and also to reach an agreement towards drawing a roadmap to presidential and parliamentary elections. Seventy five (75) delegates from Libya were selected by the United Nation and they will take part in the six day peace talk in Tunis (Tunisia) to bring a peaceful solution to Libya’s conflict. There had been strong international pressure to start the Libya’s peace talk and last month, the Libya’s rivals agreed to a United Nation brokered cease-fire agreement in Geneva. The country (Libya) is split between the United Nation supported government in Tripoli (Libya’s capital) and rival authorities in the East led by commander Khalifa Hifter. In 2019, the Khalifa Hifter led forces launched an offensive in Tripoli in order to capture the city but the Tripoli-allied militias with Turkish government heavy backing repelled the attack.
