Lecturers in Kenya public universities have called off strike on Saturday, December 9, 2017 after reaching agreement with the government. The union went on strike at the beginning of November 2017 following government’s failure to implement the deal the union had with the government in March which is to increase salaries and housing allowance. According to the union, they struck a broad agreement on issues including negotiations on better pay, clearing outstanding pensions, and a pledge not to victimize anyone for participating in the strike. Public workers in Kenya frequently go on strike, most times on issue concerning salary payment.
