The Kurdish-led authorities have released on Monday 120 Syrian families from one of the Islamic State largest camps in northeastern Syria. The Islamic State group were holding thousands of women and children, many of them were linked to the terrorist organization. Unlike the previous ones, this recent release which was announced through the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Council is voluntary and does not require sponsorship agreements with local Arab tribes which those arrested belong. According to the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Council, only identification papers are needed. The camp housed about 30,000 Iraqis and 10,000 foreign nationals. Our correspondent learned that those released are from Deir el-Zor province and 17,000 out of the 25,000 Syrians in the camp are children. Ilham Ahmed (a senior Kurdish official) said that the authorities made the release due to financial and security burden on the Kurdish-led administration. She also said that foreigners would be returned to their countries of origin in separate deals.
