Kano State governor

Kano State in Nigeria is prioritizing marriage more than investing in human capital development.

Information reaching the Viewers Corner News from our correspondent in Kano revealed that the Kano State government in Nigeria allegedly budgeted billions of naira to conduct weddings for youths in the state. The government of Kano State believes that conducting marriages for their children is the number one priority of the state, instead of first allowing these children to develop themselves. This is laughable. Now we know why the northern part of Nigeria is so backward in education compared to other regions in Nigeria. Again, if you check the lists of out-of-school children in Nigeria, almost all of them are from the northern part of Nigeria, which is so sad. The troubling issue is that those leaders at the state level are not helping matters. These groups of leaders from the northern part of Nigeria are against President Bola Tinubu’s tax reform bill; they always want to get free money, which is the federal allocation to enable them to finance their irrelevant projects, organizing weddings with billions of naira, which are unprofitable and reckless ventures. Again, the Viewers Corner News team would use this opportunity to plead with governors in the northern part of Nigeria to first create opportunities for the youths of their various states so that, in the long run, they can be able to take care of their responsibilities. We believe that encouraging the northern youths to get married without providing a good source of income for them would always create problems for the states across the northern part of Nigeria. Such a system would also bring setbacks to Nigeria, which should be avoided.
