Viewers Corner’s correspondent in Helsinki was informed that the Finnish government is planning to start paying every citizen of Finland €800 ($870) starting from 2017. This tax free monthly payment is for everybody in the country irrespective of wealth status (whether you are rich or poor) and it will replace other welfare packages, social security programs, unemployment payments in Finland.
Some Finnish citizens our correspondent spoke with concerning this payment stated that it would not be nice on the part of government if poor citizens are receiving the same amount with the rich while others said that the new payment will discourage people from working. According to report, 69 percent of Finnish citizens would prefer basic income to other benefits.
