JOSEPH SCHOOLING OF SINGAPORE HAS DONE THE UNBELIEVABLE, BEATEN MICHAEL PHELPS IN 100 METRE BUTTERFLY.

RIO DE JANEIRO 2016 OLYMPICS HIGHLIGHTS.

SWIMMING: Joseph Schooling, the 21-year-old Singapore swimmer has beaten Michael Phelps (the American swimmer and most decorated athlete in Olympic history) in 100 metres butterfly at Rio de Janeiro on Friday.  Phelps has won the most Olympic medals with 28 medals (23 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze). Phelps ended in a three-way tie for silver along with Laszlo Cseh of Hungary and Chad le Clos (South Africa). The three finished in 51.14 while Joseph Schooling (the winner) finished in 50.39.
Katie Ledecky won gold medal in the 800 freestyle (swimming), Jazz Karlin came second in 8:16.17 to win silver medal and Boglarka Kapas of Hungary who finished in 8:16.37 won bronze medal. Also Anthony Ervin, an American swimmer won a gold in the 50 freestyle and Maya DiRado (an American) defeated Katinka Hosszu of Hungary in the 200 backstroke to win gold medal. Katinka Hosszu won silver medal and Hilary Caldwell of Canada came third to win bronze medal.

TRACK AND FIELD: Almaz Ayana of Jamaica breaks world record  in women’s 10,000 meters with finishing time of 29:17.45. This is her first gold medal in 2016 Rio Olympics. Vivian Cheruiyot of Kenya won bronze with finishing time of 29:32.53 and Tirunesh Dibaba of Ethiopia came third (bronze) with finishing time of 29:42.56).
Elaine Thompson won gold in women’s 100 metre with finishing time of 10.71s, Tori Bowie of United States of America came second (silver medal) and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (Jamaica) won bronze medal.
In men’s long jump, Jeff Henderson of United States won gold medal while Luvo Manyonga of South Africa came second (silver medal) and Greg Rutherford (Great Britain) won bronze medal.

TENNIS: Rafael Nadal and his teammate, Marc Lopez won the men’s doubles title match. They defeated Florin Mergea and Horia Tecau with 6-2, 3-6, 4-6.

TRAGEDY: Stefan Henze, a German Olympic canoe coach had a car accident when he was going to the athletes village with his team official. He has a serious head injuries and he is fighting for his life in the hospital. Viewers Corner News wish Stefan Henze quick recovering.
