It was reported that Boris Johnson’s brother (Jo Johnson) has resigned from his post as a junior minister and member of the parliament amid Brexit tension. He cited a conflict between family loyalty and the national interest. Jo Johnson who has represented Orpington as a conservative in the parliament for nine year was appointed in his brother’s cabinet as a junior business minister. While making his resignation statement, he said that he has been torn between family loyalty and the national interest, that he is quitting for others to take on his roles as MP and minister. This is another blow to Boris Johnson (British prime minister) whose authority has diminished among his conservative members over his refusal to rule out a no deal in Britain exit from European Union. Boris Johnson has lost three consecutive votes in the House of Commons after losing his governing majority. Britain is expected to depart from European Union before 31 October deadline.
