Jay Z, a 47-year-old star who is married to a pop diva (Beyoncé) has been named alongside songwriters like R&B singers Kenneth Brian Edmonds (Babyface), Max Martin, Motown Records (founder Berry Gordy), Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis to join the 2017 class and be celebrated at the 48th Annual Induction and Awards Dinner in New York on June 15, 2017. The Hip-hop icon Jay Z is the first rapper chosen for the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Jay Z who is a 21-time Grammy winner has sold more than 100 million records in his career since his debut “Reasonable Doubt” in 1996. He is also a powerful entrepreneur across the music/entertainment, fashion and sports industries. Linda Moran (Songwriters Hall of Fame president), Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff (Hall of Fame co-chairs) praised all the 2017 inductees after the announcement. Congratulations to Jay Z.
