Our correspondent in Abuja, Nigeria told Viewers Corner that some states are finding it difficult to pay the salaries of their workers in various ministries in Nigeria. Viewers Corner would want to remind all the Governors that are not meeting up in paying the salaries of their workers to please make sure that they find solution on how to solve the issue because the workers’ livelihood depend on that.
If at the end of the month, their salaries are not paid it would be very difficult for them to live a normal and happy life therefore Viewers Corner is appealing to the Governors in various states of Nigeria that are in this category of not being able to pay their workers’ salaries when due to carry out reforms by looking within their states to see if they could find how more revenues could be generated without causing extra hardship to the people of their states. Viewers Corner would suggest to Governors of the affected States to examine their expenditures carefully and know which aspect to either scrap off or suspend pending when there is availability of fund in the future to carry that pending program out or it can also be left permanently if need be. What the state is able to gather from that source could be added to the monthly allocations they receive from the federal government and pay the salaries of their workers which should be the first priority of every state government.
What Viewers Corner is trying to express here is that various states government should try and save cost by financing a project that is viable and needed at a particular period, again any project that would cost the state much money which may not be viable and not needed urgently should wait until enough fund is raised to pursue such program. This again means overhauling the whole system in the state to achieve positive result, each state should avoid wasteful spending. State Governors should do their homework properly and live within their means. If few of these tips are honestly followed, payment of salaries for their workers in their states would conveniently be paid without much stress.
Once again, Viewers Corner is advising the states that are not meeting up to follow the success stories of those states that had nothing in the past but were able to bring their state to profitability. Please no reckless and careless spending of state funds. States should live within their means and make sure that salaries are paid to workers as when due, this is a special appeal from Viewers Corner to various state governments in Nigeria.
