Bukola Saraki, the senate president of Nigeria is facing a false asset declaration case at the code of conduct tribunal (C.C.T) headed by Danladi Umar, our recent findings of the whole process revealed that the code of conduct tribunal chairman (Danladi Umar) may not have been the right person to handle Bukola Saraki’s case. When this trial began, he made everyone believed that he is a no nonsense judge who would do the job well but as it is now, lots of people are beginning to ask questions about his competence. Recently during Bukola Saraki’s trial, his activities in the tribunal was not so satisfactory, our correspondent gathered that the trial judge said during the trial that he has something very important to attend to thereby adjourned the case to January 11th, 2017. We ask again what could be more important than a case he had already fixed for a specific date? Normally as long as no death of any member of his family was reported or himself who is the tribunal chairman ill, the case should have continued and in our record, none of these happened therefore every other issue he has should have waited until he is through with the case he had earlier fixed. The ability to stand strong and firm on personal or certain issues is one of the qualities of a good judge therefore we would use this opportunity to inform the chairman of the code of conduct tribunal (Mr. Danladi Umar) that Bukola Saraki’s case is a serious business and should be taken very seriously, this is not a child’s play. In the past we mentioned that if care is not taken, the tribunal chairman (Danladi Umar) would drag this Bukola Saraki’s false assets declaration case till president Buhari’s government leaves office in 2019 and this is exactly where the case is heading to. Even in that January 11th he fixed the trial is also dicey.
We are appealing to president Buhari’s government and all those involved in the appointment of some individuals that would deliberate on sensitive/high profile cases in the country (Nigeria) to please be more careful in choosing who would sit on any of the tribunals in future because as it is now, the credibility of the chairman (Danladi Umar) is questionable. We (Viewers Corner News team) do not believe that he would deliver judgement correctly on Bukola Saraki’s false assets declaration case based on how the case is being handled at the moment.
