Ebrahim Raisi, Iran’s new president-elect, stated on Monday, June 21, that he will not meet the US President, Joe Biden. Mr. Ebrahim Raisi also said that he would not negotiate over Iran’s ballistic missile program or Iran’s support of regional militias. The administration of President Joe Biden is seeking to reinstate the 2015 nuclear agreement, which was signed during the administration of former president Obama and was revoked by the ex-president, Donald Trump. Ebrahim Raisi, a hardliner and Iran’s former chief of the judiciary, won 62% of the total vote (17.9 million out of 28.9 million votes) during the country’s election held on 18 June 2021. Ebrahim Raisi, who the U.S. sanctioned for his involvement in a death commission responsible for the execution of thousands of political prisoners in 1988, urged the United States to lift all oppressive sanctions imposed on Iran’s economy and top officials.
