IRAN FINALLY ADMITS ON SATURDAY THAT ITS MILITARY MISTAKENLY SHOT DOWN UKRAINIAN PLANE, KILLING ALL 176 PEOPLE ON BOARD.

After days of denial, Iran on Saturday admitted that its military mistakenly shot down Ukraine’s plane, killing all 176 people on board. The Islamic Republic of Iran said that its air defence were fired in error while trying to strike on U.S targets in Iraq. Iran’s top Revolutionary Guards commander Amirali Hajizadeh said on Saturday that he informed the Iranian authorities about the unintentional missile strike the same day the plane crashed. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei also said that the information should be made public, while top officials and the military issued apologies. Earlier, the United States official said that they believed an Iranian missile mistakenly brought down the aircraft, which Iran denied. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards had apologised to the nation and accepted full responsibility. Ukraine International Airlines, flight PS752 (Boeing 737-800) plane crashed on Wednesday, 8 January 2020 after taking off from Iran’s Imam Khomeini airport, killing all 176 people on board.
