INSECURITY IN NIGERIA WILL NOT STOP WITH PRESIDENT BUHARI’S GOVERNMENT COMPULSORILY RETIRING A PARTICULAR GROUP OF PEOPLE FROM SERVING IN THE NIGERIAN ARMY.

This is another bad example of President Buhari’s government favouring a particular minority group of less than ten percent. This group of people believe that they own the country and can control Nigerians as they wish, simply because power is in their hands. Who are this group of people? They are the minority Fulani ethnic group from the northern part of Nigeria where President Buhari comes from. Since he became the president of Nigeria, he has been doing their bidding. During the military regime of the 80s, President Buhari was the leader of all the people of Nigeria, so when he came out for the presidency in 2015, the majority of Nigerians voted for him to lead the country. Though some people in Nigeria warned that if President Buhari is elected to office, there would be problems. The majority of Nigerians both at home and abroad did not listen and went ahead to elect him to office. Now the people of Nigeria are paying the price for electing President Buhari to office. Recently, some senior military officers of the Nigerian army were compulsorily retired as alleged and in that list available to Viewers Corner News team, over 80 percent of those retired are from the south east, south south, south west and the middle belt region. Our point on this issue is that the timing of such compulsory retirement of these senior military officers is very wrong, taking into consideration the fragile nature of Nigeria at this period of uncertainty in the country. Somehow, when one gets to a retirement age, he or she can retire, but in this particular situation that is not the case according to our findings. This attitude of President Buhari’s government is to get a particular group of people in the military out of the way so that those tribes who claimed to own Nigeria would have dominance in the military. This again would increase the insecurity and hatred of a section of the population of Nigeria against others, which is bad. If you look at appointments to key positions in Nigeria under the leadership of President Buhari, one would understand why Nigerians are angry and negatively criticizing the government of President Buhari. Such a system has opened the eyes of all Nigerian voters to know in subsequent elections how they are going to be casting their votes. Meaning that people from the south west, south east, and the middle belt would think twice before supporting and voting for a candidate from a particular tribe because of what their tribesmen in the country have subjected other Nigerians to.
