INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE CRIMINAL SUSPECTS IN NIGERIA SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO SEEK POLITICAL OR PUBLIC OFFICE UNTIL THE CASE AGAINST THEM ARE DECIDED.

We (Viewers Corner News team) have written articles in the past concerning this subject and now we are doing so again. If you look at the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, lots of lawmakers making laws for the country (Nigeria) have criminal cases hanging on their necks which up till today have not been cleared. Though, those in this category who are senators are criminal suspects until proven guilty but then as a suspect having lots of criminal issues to settle in the country (Nigeria) would not have given you that position you are occupying now. In our (Viewers Corner News team) opinion, it is better to stay aside until the court of law decides your case. On the other hand, voters in Nigeria need more enlightenment campaign on this issue of electing criminal suspects into various offices in Nigeria. In a normal democratic system as it is practised in most countries around the world, if you are a criminal suspect, voters in the country would never cast their votes for you irrespective of who you are until your case is decided by a law court. Even if at the end you are innocent, the voters would be scared to cast their votes for you but in Nigeria where money politics has become a trend, even if you are a criminal as long as you have the money to share to voters you have more chances of winning the election than an individual with integrity. Nigeria as a country and her citizens need to look in other directions if they truly want the country (Nigeria) to move forward, meaning that corrupt politicians should not have a place in the decision making of the country (Nigeria) because they are bad news to the country. In the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, almost all the senators have lots of skeletons in their cupboards and still making laws for the country (Nigeria). What quality of leadership do anyone expect from such group of suspected criminals? The answer is bad leadership which is the truth. INEC is also another problem in Nigeria which the federal government of Nigeria should properly examine by appointing individuals with sound minds and credibility to head the electoral commission. Those who are not qualified to contest elections in Nigeria should not be confirmed even if their political parties have given them tickets to run for any position, such group of individuals should be rejected completely. The All Progressives Congress (APC) believed by majority of Nigerians both home and abroad to be the best political party have deviated, today they are supporting those with lots of skeletons in their cupboards to run for various offices which is bad. Even governors who can not pay workers salaries and pensioners allowances in their states have been reelected. Most of those at the top level in All Progressives Congress (APC) would say one thing today and do another tomorrow, playing on people’s intelligence which is bad. Complete change and redirection are what Nigeria needs to move to the next level and it should start from the federal government of Nigeria. Do not support those without leadership qualities to run for office, always tell them the truth even if they get angry because you would be destroying the future of your country (Nigeria). Change is the answer which everyone should stand for in order to move the country (Nigeria) forward.
