Those people in Nigeria who are calling for RESTRUCTURING should explain to the Nigerian public what they mean in detail. This word “restructuring” sounds so good but has lots of implications taking into consideration the situation of the country (Nigeria). Viewers Corner News correspondent in Abuja (Nigeria) informed us that the APC committee is allegedly recommending states police, resources control and fiscal federalism. Such system sounds nice but recommending states police at this point in their agenda may not be the best option. Police affairs should be the duty of the federal government of Nigeria and not states, for so many reasons in our opinion. The disadvantages would be more than what it intends to achieve. The money bags in various states of the country (Nigeria) would use the states police for their own benefits while the ordinary people of various states across the country (Nigeria) would be subjected to all sorts of intimidation, believe it or not, this is the truth. Again the states police would be very corrupt and may grow out of control to handle. Let security remain in the hands of the federal government of Nigeria like it is now until when all the necessary tools are put in place. Laws and orders are to be obeyed both by the rich and poor in the country (Nigeria), meaning that everyone should be answerable to the law irrespective of the person’s status. Create more awareness in the Nigerian system and only on this basis can a country start planning to have a state police. Again if all the conditions above are properly handled and is working nicely, can a nation think towards this direction. But in Nigeria at the moment, recommending to have states police may not be right for now, therefore we (Viewers Corner News team) are pleading with those at the helm of affairs concerning this agenda to kindly put the poor masses of the country (Nigeria) first before implementing their programs to have states police. Sincerely we (Viewers Corner News and the Advisory team) are worried about the welfare of the ordinary people of the country (Nigeria) who are already facing hardship. They do not need further intimidation through restructuring so we are calling on those behind this program to have a second thought before implementing them.
