Immediately after Fr. Hyacinth Alia became the governor of Benue State, he allegedly approved billions of naira to purchase vehicles for government officials.

Who in Nigeria can the people of Nigeria trust to lead their various states as governors? Who would take the poverty alleviation programme as its number one priority? In Benue State, a Reverend Father during the campaign period made promises of changing Benue State for good if he became the governor of the state. But a few months into his office as governor of Benue State, it was alleged that billions of naira were approved by the governor to purchase vehicles for government officials alone. Should purchasing vehicles be the first priority of a governor in Nigeria? The answer is no. Our point is that workers in Benue State are still being owed their salaries, and the pensioners have not received their pension allowances for months, if not years. There are no good medical facilities for the people of the state, and many more. But the governor, who is widely believed to be a great man of God, allegedly spent billions of naira to purchase vehicles. Instead of first tackling the immediate problems in the state, which are hunger, poverty, and infrastructural projects that would create jobs for the people of the state, he instead chose vehicles first. The Viewers Corner News team is appealing to the governor of Benue State to create jobs for the people of the state and pay pensioners their allowances because they believe and trust you so much; hence, they voted for you to lead the state. If all the immediate issues are properly addressed, then you can purchase any vehicle of your choice for government officials. But the needful should be done first, which is pulling the people of Benue State out of poverty.
