IF YOU KNOW YOUR RIGHT AS AN INDIVIDUAL, NO NIGERIAN POLICE WOULD INTIMIDATE YOU.

The recent ban by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase in Nigeria that no police officer will search the phone of any individual without a warrant is a welcome news. The Nigerian police sometimes over act by intimidating the innocent citizens of the country. Normally police supposed to protect the citizens of the country in accordance with the law of the land but most times they are the ones breaking the law by using excessive force when it is not necessary. Our advice to the citizens of Nigeria is to get acquainted with the basic laws of the country (Nigeria) so that when an officer of the law is acting wrongly, then you can be able to point out to the police officer that you know your right assuming the officer wants to intimidate you but please do it nicely by speaking politely and not using words that are offensive.

This aspect is very important, when an officer of the law stops you, he or she has the right to do so and if you are being asked a question by a police officer, it is your responsibility to answer politely and in so doing, the officer would not have any reason to hurt you so please take note of this fact.
