The idea to make peace in Burundi is a good one but the credibility of those preaching for peace is questionable because almost all of them who are pushing for peace in Burundi are guilty of the same offence. Jacob Zuma of South African, Mohamed Sall of Senegal, Alibongo Ondimba of Gobon, Haillemariam Desalegn of Ethiopia, all these African leaders went to Bujumbura (Burundi) for peace talk with Pierre Nkurunziza, the self imposed president of Burundi. The idea for this peace talk is good but the problem is, would the self imposed President of Burundi, Pierre Nkurunziza agree to a peace deal which these African leaders presented to him because Pierre Nkurunziza has refused to step down after completing his two tenures as the President of Burundi which the constitution of Burundi requires. His refusal to step down is the reason Burundi has turned into a killing field and since the problem started in Burundi, over four hundred (400) people have lost their lives, most of these individuals killed were opposed to the third coming of Pierre Nkuruziza. They asked him to respect the constitution of Burundi which says that no sitting President will be in power for more than two terms, this is very clear which this dictator, Pierre Nkurunziza rejected and decided to stay. The funny aspect is that Pierre Nkurunziza said that God asked him to lead the people of Burundi but would that be forever? That we have no answer, however we (Viewers Corner) are praying and hoping that the outcome of the meeting with the self imposed President of Burundi Pierre Nkurunziza and the African leaders be a positive one. In our opinion, we believe that the only way peace can be achieved in Burundi is for Pierre Nkurunziza to step down, anything short of that may not be acceptable to the people of the country (Burundi). Again such action from Pierre Nkurunziza is wrong and unacceptable, he should respect the law of the land (Burundi) and show good example for the people of his country Burundi to follow. This wrong attitude of Pierre Nkurunziza is also common with most African leadrs.
We are appealing to all the African leaders to do the right thing because any country that has instability in his system would always lack behind and there would never be room for development. Time has come for all the African countries to take a center stage in the world by growing from being called a third world country to a better one.
