It is good to encourage manufacturing industries in the country (Nigeria) which produce various types of products but before this is done, many factors would have to be considered. Nigeria as a nation is growing and the industries within the country need to be protected quite alright but not in this aspect of car manufacturing because there are no such industries in the country. If the country should ban the importation of fairly used vehicles into Nigeria, it would have serious consequences on the economy because the importation of fairly used vehicles into Nigeria has created lots of benefits in the country. Apart from that, Nigeria has no real auto manufacturing plant in the country, even if it does, it would be very expensive for the ordinary Nigerian to purchase therefore such idea of banning the importation of fairly used vehicles should not come to play at all.
HOW CAN ANYONE SUGGEST A BAN ON IMPORTATION OF FAIRLY USED VEHICLES INTO NIGERIA? THE SUGGESTION MAY NOT BE A GOOD ONE, A LAW REGULATING THE IMPORTATION OF VERY OLD VEHICLES IS WHAT IS NEEDED.
It would be better to have a law that would regulate the importation of very old vehicles coming into the country (Nigeria) and such law should be enforced properly instead of a total ban. Nigeria is a developing country and needs the services of fairly used vehicles in the country, this aspect has created lots of benefits to the Nigerian economy and any attempt to ban the importation of fairly used vehicles as suggested by some group of people would create more problems in the country. However a proper study on this aspect should be conducted before any decision could be made.
