The former Egyptian president, Hosni Mubarak who ruled Egypt for 30 years is dead. Mubarak died on Tuesday in intensive care after undergoing surgery. Former president Hosni Mubarak who was an early victim of Arab Spring revolutions in the region was ousted in a popular uprising against corruption and autocracy in 2011. Mubarak was arrested two months after he was forced out of office and he spent several years in prison. He was sentenced to life in prison for allegedly conspiring to murder 239 protesters, but was released in 2017 after being cleared of the charges. Our correspondent in Cairo learned that the Egyptian government has declared a three day public mourning for the former leader Mubarak and he would be given a military funeral. May his soul rest in peace.
