HISHAM AL-ASHMAWY, AN EGYPTIAN TOP MILITANT EXTRADITED FROM LIBYA HAS BEEN EXECUTED BY EGYPT ON WEDNESDAY.

Hisham al-Ashmawy, top Egyptian militant who was extradited from Libya and was convicted over several high-profile attacks was on Wednesday executed by Egypt according to the information reaching Viewers Corner News. Hisham al-Ashmawy was a former Egyptian special forces officer that led the Sinai-based Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis (Egypt’s most active militant group), before it pledged allegiance to Islamic State in 2014. He later moved to Libya and joined the al Qaeda-linked Ansar al-Sharia. In 2018, Hisham al-Ashmawy was captured in Derna (Libya’s city) and extradited to Egypt in May 2019. An Egyptian court convicted him of several charges including 2014 attack that killed 22 military guards and the attempted assassination of a former interior minister in 2013.
