Helen Ford, a Chicago woman (55 years old) who tortured and killed her 8-year-old grand daughter (Gizzell Ford) in 2013 have been convicted of first-degree murder by a court. According to the information our correspondent gathered, few months before her death, Gizzell Ford was placed in the custody of her father (Andre Ford) by a judge due to Andre Ford’s argument in the court that the girl’s mother (Sandra Mercado) was homeless and failed to get their daughter to school regularly. Andre Ford (the dead girl’s father) is an unemployed felon and was living with his mother (Helen Ford). The evidence before Cook County Circuit (court that convicted Helen Ford on Thursday) stated that the 8-year-old Gizzell Ford was tied up, deprived of food and water for days by her grand mother (Helen Ford). Judge Evelyn Clay of Cook County Circuit called the murder “exceptionally brutal” and convicted Helen Ford of first-degree murder and she could be sentenced to life in prison without parole.
