HANAN AL HROUB, THE PALESTINIAN TEACHER WON THE 2016 ONE MILLION DOLLAR GLOBAL TEACHERS PRIZE.

Viewers Corner News was informed that Hanan Al Hroub, a 43-year-old Palestinian teacher is the winner of the 2016 $1 million Global Teacher Prize. According to report, the winner was announced by Pope Francis and His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai presented the award to Hanan Al Hroub at the Global Education and Skills forum in Dubai on Sunday, March 13, 2016. The Global Teacher Prize is an annual $1 million award presented to an exceptional teacher who has made an outstanding contribution to the profession and it is awarded by the Varkey Foundation under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammad. Hanan Al Hroub grew up in the Palestinian Refugee camp in Bethlehem and she was exposed to all sorts of violence. Last year (2015), Nancie Atwell won the Global Teacher Prize and she donated the $1m award to the Center for Teaching and Learning, the school she founded in Maine (USA) to support underprivileged learners.
