Twenty five years ago (in 1990), Gustavo Garcia (18 years at that time) and Christopher Vargas (15 years then) fatally shot a 43-year-old Craig Turski during a holdup in Plano. A month later, the two (Gustavo Garcia and Christopher Vargas) went robbery in a liquor store in Dallas and shot dead a store clerk named Gregory Martin who was 18 years old then. Gustavo Garcia was sentenced to dead while Christopher Vargas was sentenced to life in prison because his young age made him ineligible for the death penalty. On Tuesday, 16 February 2016, Gustavo Garcia was executed by lethal injection (pentobarbital) and was pronounced dead at 6:26 p.m. CST, 16 minutes after the drug started flowing into his system. This year, Texas has executed three prisoners and not less than nine other Texas inmates have executions scheduled in the coming months, including three in March 2016.
