The Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, led by Mr. Bawa, cannot say what it did not see or know. Before the commission revealed that about 19 billion Naira, which belongs to the Kogi state government, was recovered and sent back to the Central Bank of Nigeria, it means that their claim was correct. Governor Yahaya Bello’s records on the issue of not paying workers’ salaries and pensioners’ allowances properly make it difficult for the people of Nigeria to trust him. The Kogi state government, led by Governor Yahaya Bello, has received a large sum of money from both the federal government of Nigeria and other sources, including internally generated revenue from the state, but has nothing meaningful to show for it. Nigerians know Governor Yahaya Bello as a corrupt governor, which is the truth, take it or leave it. Again, if Governor Yahaya Bello and his government are very sure and sincere that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of Nigeria lied against them, then the only solution is to take the commission to court. Based on our findings, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of Nigeria has all the records of the Kogi state government in their possession, so Governor Yahaya Bello’s continually denying and accusing the commission of misleading the people of Nigeria over the bailout money, which runs into billions of Naira belonging to Kogi state, may anger the EFCC into revealing dirty activities the Kogi State government may not want the people of Nigeria to know. So we advise Governor Yahaya Bello and his government to let the sleeping lion sleep quietly.
