GOVERNOR SHETTIMA OF BORNO STATE (NIGERIA) EMPOWERING THOUSANDS OF YOUTHS IN HIS STATE WITH SHOE SHINNING KITS MAY NOT BE IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE YOUTHS OF HIS STATE AND NIGERIA IN GENERAL.

Most governors in Nigeria lack knowledge and foresight in-terms of projecting for the future and knowing what should be done so as to pave way for a greater opportunity for the youths of their states and Nigeria in general. The world is fast growing and everyone should move towards that direction so that at the end no one would be left out. We (Viewers Corner News team) have looked into the empowerment program of governor Shettima of Borno state (Nigeria) for the youths of his state. To an extent, he tried at least for buying shoe shining kits for thousands of youths in his state but that would not have been the best way out. This sort of empowerment program leads us to the question of the day which is; whose shoes are thousands of youths in Borno state (Nigeria) going to be shining with these kits? As a governor, proper planning is required to get those youths engaged through other methods and not shoe shining business. It would have been better if governor Shettima can open a Vocational Training Institute in his state where youths can be trained on different kinds of trades which includes agriculture and other areas of technical works rather than buying kits for shoe shining for the youths of his state. This is a short-cut system which is not needed in Nigeria at this time. The Nigerian youths should properly be re-directed to be able to compete globally, certainly not through shoe shining business. Sometime ago, a governor in Nigeria also empowered youths in his state with thousands of wheel barrow meaning that poverty and hardship may not likely to leave such state if the youths of that state in question would become wheel barrow pushers throughout their lives which is bad. Show the Nigerian youths a better way to the future through another method of empowerment like we (Viewers Corner News team) suggested in this article. Somehow it may be a long term venture but at the end, lots of benefits would be gained and the youths would happily be engaged which would at the end add growth and value to the economy of Nigeria.
