Governor Seriake Dickson, the incumbent governor of Bayelsa state (Nigeria) and the Peoples Democractic Party candidate emerged the winner of the governorship election held in the state. Viewers Corner’s correspondent learnt that the results of the election which was announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Returning Officer, Zana Akpaogu saw Governor Dickson polled majority of votes in the state. Governor Dickson defeated his strong opponent, Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress with 134,998  votes while Timipre Sylva got 86,852 votes and he was declared winner by INEC on Sunday, January 10, 2016. Bayelsa state gubernatorial election was held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 but the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared it inconclusive after cancelling the poll of the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area due to reported violence and electoral malpractices. The commission then fixed January 9, 2016 for supplementary elections in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area and other polling units in seven local government areas of the state where election did not hold on December 5, 2016.

Viewers Corner congratulates Governor Seriake Dickson and we are equally appealing to him to use his good office to improve the lives of Bayelsa state people by building basic amenities and creating job opportunities in the state. Once again, congratulations Governor Seriake Dickson.
