GOVERNOR NYESOM WIKE’S LEADERSHIP IN RIVER STATE OF NIGERIA IS QUESTIONABLE AND HIS ATTITUDE TOWARDS EDUCATION GENERALLY IS NOT A GOOD NEWS.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state.

One thing is certain in Nigeria and around the world, some group of individuals would like to be called leaders or be in control of affairs at all times, we (Viewers corner) mean in power/authority and as they are there, the first thing in their mind is what they would grab for themselves, not minding the general public that made them get to that government house they are occupying.
This is one of the attributes of desperation, I must rule whether anyone likes it or not. We also call it selfishness, greed and lack of foresight. This category of politicians forget so quickly the promises they made during the election campaigns that brought them to power, everything is thrown into a trash box. This is a sin to whoever that belongs to this category.
Now in Nigeria, school session for 2015/2016 academic year has started since the beginning of September, 2015 but in Rivers state of Nigeria, government owned schools are yet to resume and is not everyone that can afford to send his or her children to private schools because of high cost of fees paid in those private schools. Governor Nyesom Wike of River state is not doing anything to address the issue. How would he feel if his children are in public school and up till now, they have not resumed school? Most probably he would have done something about it. When Nyesom Wike was appointed the minister of state for education on July, 14, 2011 and later the Acting Minister of Education, Nigerian universities and polytechnics including colleges of education were on strike for a very long period of time without him as the acting minister of education as at that time finding solution to the problems. Now, this same attitude is now in play, still the same Nyesom Wike again, children that are supposed to be in school are still in their various homes in Rivers state doing nothing. This is too bad. We (Viewers corner) rated Governor Nyesom Wike as one of Nigerian’s worst governors because children are the future and deserve the best education to lead the nation tomorrow.

Former Governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi.

Rivers state public schools built
by Rotimi Amaechi.

When former Governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi was there,  in 2012, he completed about 250 Model Primary‎ Schools across the state, to replace old dilapidated schools as well as ease access to education. Rotimi Amaechi did so well, education was one of his first priorities and he carried it to a very high level which earned him a very good record in Nigeria and around the world but with Governor Nyesom Wike,  education is not in his budget. Therefore, Viewers Corner is appealing that Governor Nyesom Wike retrace his footsteps and allow the public schools in Rivers state to resume school as soon as he could because children are the future and should be given the opportunity to grow and be useful to the society.
