Democracy which is government of the people is the most beautiful system of government that can happen to any country of the world when the principles of democracy are followed as specified by the constitution of every country that is practising such system but as it is now in Ebonyi state, Governor David Umahi is hurting the poor people of the state as always with his terrible tax policies. We (Viewers Corner) believe that taxation is a major source of income in any society of the world but it should be done in a way that would not cause real pains to the people of the state and also in other parts of the country. Again, before taxes are imposed on the people of the state like it is now in Ebonyi state, so many factors have to be considered first. People in Ebonyi state are struggling from hand to mouth so that their children in various schools can be educated, now with the little they can get which is not sufficient for them and their families, Governor David Umahi is taking it with different kinds of tax system in the state, this is very wrong. Honestly, we believe that if you make provision for the people to work, most definitely they will work and pay taxes but not when there is no work and no good means of livelihood, then where do you expect them to get the money and pay taxes which you imposed on them? Again you can not wake up one morning and then decides to introduce any kind of tax that suits you without considering how the taxes are going to be paid, this is not fair at all. Therefore, Viewers Corner is appealing to Governor David Umahi to reconsider his tax method which he has imposed on the people of the state because times are hard and imposing taxes is one thing and paying it is another thing. We advise that you review your tax system to allow the people of Ebonyi state enjoy the benefits of democracy, collect taxes only when you know that such action is necessary and people would be able to pay without headache. This is how it works in a democratic system of government.
