Governor David Umahi should have known by now that his high tax policies which his government promised to scrap as a result of the appeal made by the good people of Ebonyi state is still being collected up till now in the state. We believe that taxation is a great source of revenue for every government but should be implemented with caution. In a state where lots of people have no good means of livelihood, such tax system should carefully be thought through. Now the allocation which David Umahi’s government gets from the federal government would have been used to build infrastructures in Ebonyi state so that the people of the state can have a good means of livelihood which at the end would enable them pay taxes are all lacking in Ebonyi state but still he is imposing high taxes on them without even thinking on how the taxes would be paid by the people of the state. This is not right, we (Viewers Corner) believe that there is always time for everything we do in life.
Another recent move he is making is for him to have access to the presidency because if he leaves Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as he planned earlier, then he may have a safe landing in APC. The reason why it may not be possible for him anymore is that lots of people would not like to work with him because he has done so much wrong things to those that he would have like to work with in the party (A.P.C.). In the past, Viewers Corner suggested to Governor David Umahi to have a rethink and go back to where he started his political journey and make peace with the good people of Ebonyi state whom he has crossed their parts and at the same time make amends where he went wrong but instead of doing that, he devised another strategy by having informant in almost all the political parties so that he would know the ones that are speaking against him and be able to control all the systems. He has also started another process of trying to make friends with all the big names in Abuja which he believes may help him in the near future to retain his governorship seat in the next election in Ebonyi state or get a bigger post at the federal level in the future too. These are his game plans for now, therefore Viewers Corner is appealing to the federal government of Nigeria to watch out for this man David Umahi and his plans because he knows how to use tricks and manipulations to get to any level and ones that purpose is achieved, he will start singing a different tune. He did it in the past and he can also do the same thing again, he is a man that can never be trusted in Ebonyi state anymore based on his activities towards the people of his state. Governor David Umahi says one thing now and before you know it, he is doing a different thing. Politics should not be played in such manner, all we are asking Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state to do is this; create better living conditions for all the Ebonyi state people (the wealth of the state should be enjoyed by all), create jobs for the people of your state. The contracts in Ebonyi state should be awarded to the good people of the state, it should not be done through manipulations. David Umahi’s government will ask the contractors in the state to quote for a job and later he will give that same job to his own company where he has a huge stake thereby leaving the rest contractors in darkness.
Once again, we (Viewers Corner) are appealing that you change your system by using the federal allocation to create better conditions for everyone in Ebonyi state so that at the end you would be in the good books of all the people of the state. We (Viewers corner) are concerned citizens of this world and would continue to plead for good governance world wide.
