GOVERNOR BEN AYADE OF CROSS RIVER STATE (NIGERIA) HAS EXEMPTED LOW INCOME EARNERS AND THEIR BUSINESSES FROM PAYING TAXES IN HIS STATE, NICE ONE.

Information reaching Viewers Corner News from our correspondent in Calabar (Nigeria) revealed that governor Ben Ayade of Cross River state has exempted the low income earners and their businesses from paying taxes in his state (Cross River). The governor (Ben Ayade) stated this in an emotional speech he gave while inaugurating the anti-tax agency that would assist in enforcing the directives to make sure that no low income person and his business in Cross Rivers state (Nigeria) would be victimised for not paying tax. Honestly, this singular gesture has changed some negative ways on how most people in Nigeria see governor Ben Ayade. Though in the past, governor Ben Ayade’s name was badly dented for his alleged role in the detention of a journalist (Agba Jalingo) when the journalist in question published an article accusing governor Ben Ayade of diverting millions of Naira to his pocket, since then his image as a governor has earned him negative criticisms, but looking at his emotional and sincere plea concerning the level of poverty in his state and what would come after the eradication of Coronavirus pandemic, one would agree with him completely. As a smart governor, he has done the right thing and should be commended for exempting the low income earners from paying taxes in Cross River state. We (Viewers Corner News team) would also use this opportunity to appeal to other governors in Nigeria to learn from governor Ben Ayade’s good gesture of exempting the low income earners and their businesses from paying taxes. Again, such good gesture towards the poor people of Cross Rivers state is highly welcomed which we (Viewers Corner News team) are asking other state governors in Nigeria to adopt.
