GAMBIAN PRESIDENT, YAHYAH JAMMEH HAS BEEN DEFEATED IN THE COUNTRY’S PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION BY THE OPPOSITION CANDIDATE (ADAMA BARROW) AFTER 22 YEARS OF RULE IN GAMBIA.

Gambian dictator leader, Yahyah Jammeh was on Friday defeated in the country’s presidential election by the opposition candidate (Adama Barrow) after ruling the country for 22 years. The Gambian electoral commission president (Alieu Momarr Njai) has declared Adama Barrow (a former Argos security guard who worked in the store on London’s Holloway Road) the winner of the country’s presidential election. Adama Barrow (the Republic of Gambia president-elect) won with 45.5 percent of the total votes as against Yahyah Jammeh’s 36.7 percent. Dictator Jammeh seized power in a coup in 1994 and later won the country’s presidential elections in 1996, 2001, 2006 and 2011 after constitutional amendment in 2002 which removed presidential term limits. Yahya Jammeh who vowed to rule his country (Gambia) for a billion years has been accused by the human rights groups of ordering the deaths of countless political opponents as well as targeting journalists and homosexuals.

Mr Adama Barrow) studied property management in London and also worked as Argos security guard in the store on London’s Holloway Road before he returned to his country (Gambia) to become the leader of Gambia’s opposition party (United Democratic Party).
