Viewers Corner appreciate the effort of Francois Hollande, the president of France in trying to assist Nigeria and other African nations in the fight against Boko haram group.
France has been a great force in the continent of Africa right from the colonial era. Again, Boko haram is a terrorist group that has no regard for human lives and has caused damages in the continent of Africa. In the past, Viewers Corner pleaded with the group to use dialogue to get to the government because that is the only best way peace can be achieved instead of killing the innocent citizens of various countries in Africa which is very wrong. Viewers Corner would also remind the president of France, Francois Hollande to put more effort in assisting the African nations as he had pledged in the fight against Boko haram.
Again, the boko haram’s supply route should be blocked completely, that is the first step if the fight against Boko Haram would be successful. If we look very closely, almost all Boko haram’s weapons are manufactured in the advance countries which means that some countries in the Western world are doing business with the terrorist group by selling weapons to them because in most countries in Africa, there is no industry that manufacture such sophisticated weapons used by boko haram group. Therefore, if the boko haram supply route is blocked, then that would mark the beginning of the end for boko haram terrorist group because if there is no weapon for them, they would seek peace as an alternative means.
Secondly, African nations have come a long way with France, hopefully this is the right time for France to show real understanding that they care about the welfare of the African people. Recently, France hosted the President of Angola, Jose Eduardo Dos Santos, he was given a red carpet welcome in France which is very wrong. This man is a dictator and has been in power since 1979, he has refused to step down. He has also been accused of human rights violation and no one in the world is talking about it. France should use diplomacy and dialogue in convincing the President of Angola, Jose Eduardo Dos Santos to step down for the purpose of democracy and transparency but instead France has not said anything to the President of Angola but would want to do business with him. This is not right, therefore for African countries to move forward, France and other advance nations should stop doing business with all these African leaders that are practising dictatorship type of government in their various countries because they have over stayed their usefulness in the politics of Africa and doing business with these corrupt leaders is nothing but encouraging them to remain in power forever which is very wrong.
In conclusion, Viewers Corner is appealing to Mr Hollande, the President of France to show more concern as he has said, not only assisting the African nations in the fight against boko haram but also to inform other leaders in Africa that have turned themselves into dictators that time has come for them to step down and follow democratic principles and also implement them. Again, pressure from advance countries would also play a great role in making them to step down.
