It was reported that four United Nations peacekeepers were killed and five injured on Wednesday, 13 January in central Mali when their vehicles hit an explosive device and caught fire. The United Nations mission in Mali (MINUSMA) stated that three peacekeepers were killed and six wounded in the attack on Wednesday. On Thursday, another statement was released by MINUSMA spokesman, saying that a fourth person had died. No militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack but Islamist groups linked to al Qaeda and Islamic State have been attacking the region and making Mali ungovernable.
