Viewers Corner News correspondent in the United Arab Emirates was informed that four Emiratis were sentenced to death recently by the Federal Supreme Court in the UAE for joining the Islamic State jihadist group in Syria. According to report, the men who were tried in absentia were also charged with promoting IS online and helping to finance the group. Also a Mauritanian, a Bahraini, three other Emiratis and a Syrian were sentenced to jail terms of between three and ten years while one Emiratis was acquitted. Recently the United Arab Emirates authorities have enacted tougher anti-terror legislation which includes death penalty and harsher jail terms for crimes that are linked to religious hatred and extremist groups.
