Former Argentine President Alberto Fernández Charged with Violence Against Ex-First Lady

It was reported that Argentina’s former President, Alberto Fernández was recently charged with committing violence against his former partner, Fabiola Yáñez. The charges include minor and serious injuries, doubly aggravated, and coercive threats. Prosecutor Ramiro González, who is leading the case, has requested further evidence, including testimonies from former presidential doctor Federico Saavedra and ex-presidential secretary María Cantero. Fernández, who served as president from 2019 to 2023, has denied the allegations and vowed to prove his innocence. The charges were brought after Yáñez testified via video call from Madrid, where she currently resides. This legal action comes shortly after Yáñez’s allegations emerged from a separate embezzlement investigation involving Fernández.
