Nigeria is a very rich country but only few of those at the top level of government are enjoying the money meant for all the people of the country (Nigeria) which is bad. It is a sin to do so. We (Viewers Corner News team) have calculated the pension allowances being paid to ex-governors and their deputies in all the states of Nigeria, it showed that ex-governors in Nigeria including their deputies earn millions of Naira as pension allowances on yearly basis with huge benefits attached to it just for being in office between four and eight years but civil/public servants who put in over thirty five years of service get peanut as pension allowances on retirement, that is if it would ever be paid at all. Again, pension allowances for all the ex-governors in Nigeria are not delayed at all, they get their money as at when due but those elders (Pensioners) who worked for many years building the economy of Nigeria are not paid as at when due. We (Viewers Corner News team) see this as injustice and wickedness on the part of those leaders who are making laws for the country (Nigeria). In the past, we (Viewers Corner News team) wrote article calling on the federal government of Nigeria to carry out reform on issues of pension which they ignored. If you put together the amount of money paid to ex-governors in Nigeria as pension allowances, that alone can create lots of jobs for the unemployed in the country (Nigeria). Our (Viewers Corner News team) point is this; the amount of money being paid as pension allowances to ex-governors in Nigeria is too much, most of these ex-governors are still very young and are working either as lawmakers at the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria or doing businesses which is good. In this situation, slash their pension allowances into four equal parts and give them one part, when they reach retirement age of sixty seven years which we (Viewers Corner News team) are proposing for the federal government of Nigeria, then they can receive half of what they are getting now as full pension money which if put together is more than enough to live a decent life. Pension allowance should only be paid to those who have worked for over thirty five years in any establishment or paid to those with health issues sustained in their jobs, not an ex-governor who just worked for four or eight years and when his tenure of office ends, he starts receiving millions of Naira on yearly basis as pension. This is economic waste in our (Viewers Corner News team) opinion. There is no where in the world one can find such practice, only in Nigeria or other African countries. Leaders in Africa most especially in Nigeria allocate their country’s wealth to themselves alone as pension allowances and benefits, leaving the ordinary people of the country to suffer an unending hardship and poverty. Very corrupt and deceitful leaders without conscience who play on the intelligence of their people. Again, we (Viewers Corner News team) are appealing to the federal government of Nigeria to urgently carry out reform on issues of pension because the financial leakages affecting the treasury of Nigeria on yearly basis have created huge problem in the economy of the country (Nigeria) and such practice is still going on till today. This is time to end those financial leakages by cutting down on areas where excessive spending is noticed. In doing so, the issue of Nigeria borrowing money from international community would be reduced.
