It was revealed that over 100 billion Naira debt was accumulated by ex-governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state before leaving office. Also, about 400 million naira was left in the treasury of the state, which Governor Charles Soludo would have to deal with. However, Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra state is an economist with managerial skills who, in our opinion, would not have much trouble solving most of the pressing issues of the people of Anambra state. Although leaving over 100 billion Naira debt for a newly elected leader to carry is huge, but then, the Viewers Corner News team believes that as time goes on, everything will be sorted out. Almost all the governors in various states in Nigeria are guilty of this debt issue. If you looked into where these huge sums of money, amounting to billions, if not trillions, of Naira, were spent, you would probably not find it. One thing that comes to our mind is corruption and mismanagement, because there is no way such a huge amount of borrowed money would be invested in a state without the people seeing it. The only consolation for Anambra State during ex-governor Willie Obiano’s administration is the International Cargo and Passenger Airport, which he built. He was also able to pay workers’ salaries and pensioners’ allowances properly. We are appealing to governor Charles Soludo to work more on areas where ex-governor Willie Obiano did not do well, so that Anambra state will stand out as one of the best states in Nigeria.
