When you are doing something that is not right to your fellow human beings, believing that no one can bring you down because of your status in the society, you should better have a rethink. Ex-governor Nyesom Wike, who is Nigeria’s current minister of the federal capital territory of Abuja, is the political godfather in Rivers State. But considering what is happening now, he has no such power anymore. Ex-governor Nyesom Wike used Rivers State money when he was the governor of the state to buy all the people to his side. Meaning that those politicians who are members of the state House of Assembly were put there by ex-governor Nyesom Wike. He even bought all the forms for all of them, including the current governor (Siminalayi Fubura), which ex-governor Nyesom Wike confirmed by himself. He did so for him to be able to have full control of all of them. The sad aspect of it all is that ex-governor Nyesom Wike had been collecting a 25% fee from the monthly allocation paid to the government of Rivers State. Normally, this revelation alone is more than enough to sack ex-governor Nyesom Wike as minister of the federal capital territory of Abuja. This is absolutely wrong; the monthly allocation is paid to the state for the governor to use it for the betterment of the people of Rivers State, not part of the money to be given to ex-governor Nyesom Wike, irrespective of the agreement he might have had with governor Siminalayi Fubura. It was also revealed that the commissioners working under Governor Siminalayi Fubura of Rivers State were all appointed by ex-governor Nyesom Wike, which should not have been so. The governor could not make decisions without first consulting ex-governor Nyesom Wike. All these and many more led to the problems that the people of Rivers State are facing. Even the state House of Assembly was burned down because of ex-governor Nyesom Wike’s greed. Right now, Governor Siminalayi Fubura of Rivers State has come to his senses; hence, he has decided to be the governor that he is elected to be. He has sacked all those commissioners that ex-governor Nyesom Wike imposed on him, and also said that there shall be no more 25% fee paid to ex-governor Nyesom Wike, which is nice. The people of Rivers State are solidly behind Governor Siminalayi Fubura as the only elected governor of the state, which is great.
