EVARISTE NDAYISHIMIYE HAS BEEN SWORN IN AS THE NEW PRESIDENT OF BURUNDI.

Evariste Ndayishimiye, Burundi’s newly elected president has been sworn in on Thursday, 18 June 2020 at Ingoma stadium in Gitega (Burundi). Evariste Ndayishimiye was elected from the ruling party, the National Council for the Defense of Democracy – Forces for the Defense of Democracy (CNDD-FDD). Evariste Ndayishimiye was sworn in two months earlier than planned due to the sudden death of his predecessor, late president Pierre Nkurunziza who died last week (8 June 2020) of cardiac arrest. The 52-year-old Evariste Ndayishimiye was supported by late Mr Nkurunziza and was declared the winner of the country’s presidential election which was held in May 2020. Congratulations to President Evariste Ndayishimiye.
