EUROPEAN UNION RECENTLY IMPOSED TRAVEL BAN ON VENEZUELAN VICE PRESIDENT AND TEN OTHERS FOR UNDERMINING DEMOCRACY AND THE RULE OF LAW IN VENEZUELA.

The European Union has imposed travel ban and frozen the assets of Delcy Rodriguez (Venezuelan new vice president) and ten other senior officials of the country for undermining democracy, the rule of law and also violating human rights in Venezuela. European Union is pressing the country to hold fresh elections, stop human rights violations and equally allow the rule of law to return in Venezuela. President Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela is not included in the sanctions but the president was included in the United States list where about seventy (70) officials of Venezuela excluding the vice president (Delcy Rodriguez) were sanctioned. The international community has accused Venezuelan leaders of using the country’s national resources for personal gain. Also in Myanmar, seven top military officials were sanctioned by the European Union. According to the report our correspondent gathered, among those sanctioned was Major General Maung Maung Soe (the general accused of driving over 700,000 Rohingya Muslims to flee the country to Bangladesh). Their assets were frozen and they were banned from traveling to the European Union.
