Some top government officials in Imo state have allegedly embezzled the money given to the state by the federal government of Nigeria as a bailout fund. These men are Obi paschal Chigozie (principal secretary to governor Rochas Okorocha), Uzoho Casmir (director of finance) and Iheoma Kenneth (treasurer). Viewers Corner further learnt that the bailout money (2 billion Naira) given to the state was to enable them pay salaries of the civil servants and other related matters within Imo state but these few individuals allegedly pocketed the money for their own personal use, this is wickedness. Again Imo state is among the few states in Nigeria that have been owing the civil servants in the country and now these men diverted the money meant for the state, this is a serious crime against humanity. Now tell me why these men that are allegedly involved in this terrible scam if found guilty should not spend the rest of their lives in jail, we (Viewers corner) regard the action of these few individuals as a serious crime against humanity. How on earth can anyone explain this, that the money meant for the workers and also to carryout some important functions within the state has been taken away by some terrible good for nothing individuals in the state? How do they expect these poor workers in Imo state to feed their families when their means of livelihood is being taken away from them? This is an indirect way of killing the workers in the civil service. Some months back governor Rochas Okorocha allegedly used millions of Naira to beautify Imo state government house just for Christmas celebration alone while workers in the state have not received their outstanding salaries for months. Governor Rochas Okorocha does things with impunity in the state without considering the people who voted for him, this is wickedness in the highest order, when any individual would deprive the people he or she is leading the God giving rights to live and earn a good life.
Another terrible aspect is that some people in Imo state are still clapping their hands and singing praises for him (governor Rochas Okorocha) instead of exposing his terrible system of governance in the state, normally as a governor your responsibility is to work and better the lives of those people in your state, create good facilities for them by using the available resources within the state including the allocation from the federal government of Nigeria which you collect monthly to achieve that purpose. The allocation is to enable the governor execute his activities in the state so that the people can be comfortable, therefore such money is not for the governor but is unfortunate that as soon as the allocation gets to the state, instead of using it judiciously, the governor and his associates would divert the money to their own personal use. However we (Viewers corner) would use this opportunity to appeal to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (E.F.C.C) to keep up the good work in fishing out those that are running these scam activities in various states of the country (Nigeria).
We have written about corruption in our past articles and how dangerous the disease can be which is capable of killing any nation if not properly cured and now we are reminding everyone again to join hands in eradicating this deadly disease (Corruption). Nigerians should also play down a bit on sentiments, no matter who is involved in corruption activities, he or she should face the law of the land because this is the only way the country can move forward.
