EIGHT PORTUGUESE HAVE BEEN CHARGED WITH TERROR FOR FIGHTING FOR ISLAMIC STATE GROUP IN SYRIA.

It was reported that eight Portuguese suspected of fighting for Islamic state group in Syria have been charged with terror by Portuguese Prosecutors. According to the report, the men were suspected of being involved in the kidnapping of British war correspondent John Cantlie and Dutch photographer Jeroen Oerlemens in 2012. The British authority reported the kidnappings to the Portuguese government and the case was opened in 2013. The investigators have been tracing the movement and radicalization of the men over the past six years, they were said to have been converted to Islam, joined Islamic State group and travelled to Syria with their families. They were also accused of recruiting people on behalf of the Islamic state terror group. Our correspondent learned that two of the eight men are in Portugal and have been questioned, while the other six whereabouts were not known as at the time of this report.
