DR. IBE KACHIKWU, THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR PETROLEUM SAID THAT IN FEW YEARS TIME THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WOULD END THE IMPORTATION OF FUEL, HOW POSSIBLE CAN THIS BE?

The explanation given recently by the minister of state for petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu that the federal government of Nigeria has planned in few years time, that fuel importation would be a thing of the past. It sounds so good to hear but how realistic can this be? We (Viewers corner) honestly do not believe in this statement but if it comes to be real then beautiful.
Our (Viewers corner) concern is that the removal of the subsidy which would cost petroleum users in the country (Nigeria) to pay up to 145 Naira instead of 86 Naira per litre would somehow hurt the people in a very drastic manner taken into consideration the hardship in the country (Nigeria). However if the federal government would not come up with another different story again concerning this few years they are proposing, then the Nigerian people can manage. Again we would use this opportunity to appeal to the federal government of Nigeria to have a second plan assuming things do not come out as they projected, we should always remember that such assumption should be regarded as probability so if plan A did not work then the federal government can easily switch on to the second plan. This is very important in economic planning and development. Now that the price of crude oil is down so badly which the federal government of Nigeria rely on so much to execute her policies, we (Viewers corner) are a bit worried on how the government is going to raise money to rebuild or repair all the refineries so that it can produce to full capacity. Even if investors are brought in, proper care should be taken so that you don’t produce and left with nothing, then at the end citizens of Nigeria would bear the pains again.
Please proper care and planning need to be done for it to work very effectively, federal government should tread carefully and do the right thing.
