DO NOT PACK ALL YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET. AN ADVICE TO PETROLEUM PRODUCING NATIONS IN THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES, MOST ESPECIALLY NIGERIA.

The constant fall in the price of Petroleum products is a warning sign of what would happen in the near future. Nigerian government should start now by thinking what the next step should be. In some years to come, lots of cars may not operate with petrol and if this happens, it would create a huge problem which would affect the economy of Nigeria that solely rely on petroleum for its revenue. For example, some years ago, mobile phone was not in use but some researchers went underground to develop this communication system and today, almost everywhere across the world, mobile phone is common. No matter how poor a person is, he can at least afford a mobile phone to call any place he wishes, what a great development. Now assuming this invention happens in automobile industry like we are seeing now in advance nations where some vehicles are running without petrol on a gradual scale, what would happen to a country like Nigeria which rely heavily on petroleum for its revenue? What if the buyers of these petroleum products decide to look elsewhere or for an alternative, what do you think would happen to Nigerian economy? This is food for thought. Having said this, Nigerian government should look into other areas of development/investment to keep its expenditure going so that in the long run, the citizens of Nigeria will not be affected. Even if an individual does not have much money in his possession but the little one he or she has should at least be enough to buy good food to eat. The government of Nigeria should follow or take some of these advisory measures; go back to agriculture, incentives should be giving to local farmers such as subsidy. A committee on agriculture should be established and one of the functions of this committee should be to create market and assist the farmers get their products to the market which will be sold to the consumers. Mechanized farming should be adopted, Nigeria can do joint ventures through International trade agreement with some advance countries like Germany. What we do not know, we learn from them and in the process, we can feed our nation. Let us leave this attitude of “I know it all” and face reality. Germany is an honest country, let us use their system to better the lives of Nigerians because cost of living is high. Viewers Corner News team observed that the fluctuation in the prices of petroleum products has affected the current budget, therefore this is the right time to act like we suggested above. Let us look at other areas of development, investment and agriculture that can yield benefits to support our expenditures.
