Governor Aminu Tambuwal

Do not elect someone older than sixty years to be the president of Nigeria. This is a selfish remark.

The Viewers Corner News team has a different opinion on the alleged remark made by the governor of Sokoto State in Nigeria. Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state has urged Nigerians not to elect anyone over the age of 60 to lead the country. His remark should have been very nice if he had said, “Do not elect leaders over 64 years of age. Assuming that such a leader were to do two tenures of office, then at 72 years, the person in question may have completed his or her terms of office and go for retirement. Again, for Nigeria to move forward, voters should elect leaders with wisdom and foresight, taking into consideration the health and mental capacity of such individuals. This is because the presidency is not a child’s play. Also voters should check the person’s past records starting from his local government, how compassionate and accommodating the person is, does the person in question has any corruption issues attached to his or her name. If all these are checked and voters are convinced that such an individual has all the qualities required of a leader, then they can cast their vote for the person. Nigerians should always get the facts before voting for anyone, so that in the future, you would not say, “If I had known, I would have voted differently.”
