It was reported that Algeria’s Constitutional Council has confirmed Abdelkader Tebboune as the new president of the country, despite mass protest against the election. Our (Viewers Corner News) correspondent in Algiers reported that the election which was held last week, the head of the Constitutional Council announced that Abdelkader Tebboune won the first round of the election with 58% of the vote. It said also that the election was carried out in a good condition. The Algeria’s former president Abdelaziz Bouteflika who was sick was pushed out from power by the peaceful pro-democracy movement after leading the oil-rich country for twenty years. The protesters were against the election of Abdelkader Tebboune because he served in the government of the former president Abdelaziz Bouteflika as prime minister. Abdelkader Tebboune promised after his victory was announced last week that he will fight corruption in the country and also reach out to the protesters.
